March 2020 to present has been a wild ride for everyone. We’ve all been impacted in one way or another by COVID-19, but what’s more is our businesses have been impacted. Some of us work from home still, some are hybrid, some are back in-person full-time. But the impact on businesses doesn’t only have to do with where we’re at physically during business hours. How businesses operate has changed too.
We’re still not talking about the hours changing, we’re talking about what’s at the core. Joe Abesamis and Ford Baker spoke about how they’ve seen BaCo change during the pandemic in an article from Intuit, inc.
Joe’s Perspective
Joe spoke on one thing he’s seen improve here at BaCo and that’s focusing on the value to our clients. He states that the pandemic has only made us at BaCo improve our client service. We’re more present than ever with our clients whether that’s in-person or online. COVID-19 caused us to lead with empathy and compassion, because it’s not just the services we provide that are important, but the CPA-client relationship as well.
Ford’s Perspective
Ford touched on a couple things he’s noticed in the past year as well. One thing was that before the pandemic, he would be nervous to take on clients that were far away or long distance because he wasn’t confident in how virtual services could deliver. When forced to adopt those virtual services this past year, Ford realized that he and his team can deliver quality work and assistance to clients no matter where they are.
Another thing he touched on was being able to automate last year’s numbers onto last year’s forms. He said that doing things like this made it possible for him and his team to focus on what clients need right that moment which was more crucial than ever during 2020 and early 2021.
From experiences like these, we at BaCo can document some positive changes that have come out of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s not over yet, but it’s nice to see some positive things for a change instead of focusing on the negative.
Our firm is not the only business that’s been reflecting on how COVID-19 has affected its business. You can read more about other business owners’ and firms’ COVID-19 experiences in this article. Similar to what you’ve read here, other business owners and firms reflect on how the pandemic has changed the way their business operates in one way or another.
